I just wish they carried the flavors you would normally find in say Galleries Lafayette or Le Bon Marche in Paris. Their French baguette is extraordinary. It reminded me of the baguette's I had in Paris. Also the Fleur de Sel caramel chocolate is a crowd favorite and one of mine also. Only downside is they do not post their business hours and it's always hard to tell when they open and close.

Comment on il Grano - Heirloom Tomato Tasting Menu w/pics. We go about once a month, and like you said they view and the boats, make a great ambiance. In my opinion they make the best ciappino in town, the sauce is what makes Ciappino, and theirs insures you will eat more than you intened of their great hot sour dough bread. The stew has shrimp,scollops,mussels,clams,and big pieces of fish along with some veggies.
Connie had the fried shrimp, which she has had about 10 times, and it is consistently good.

Comment on New and Improved Blue Water Grill in Redondo

Just had lunch at Blue water grill, part of our regular schedule, about once a month. In my opinion they have the best ciappino in town, (only complaint is the shredded crab spread on top,would rather have a few pieces of lump crabmeat) the sauce is unbeatable, and insures you will eat more of the great sourdough bread than you intended to. Plenty of shrimp, big pieces of fish, clams,mussels,and several big scollops, all very good. I have to disagree about the clam chowder, I always get the white version, and it is great. Connie always gets breaded shrimp, and it is her favorite place to get it.

Comment on Kitchen Nightmares: Where are you Gordon? (Review of The London, Opening Night)

I too had almost the same experience. The scallops that I ordered were cook lightly but had virtually no flavor or seasoning. Just a touch of sea salt might have done something. The different squiggle lines of sauce was too little too late and “Puree of cauliflower”? Who’s idea was it to put this on the plate. It tasted like I would imagine an old sock would taste. Take a moment to think about the last time you ordered fish. Did it smell like an old pier? Did it look like it came from a fish. I ordered the cod on the lunch menu. It was about 3 inches long an 1 ½ inches wide. It looked more like the fish-sticks that my niece pulls all the breading off. It looked nothing like any fish. It was shaped like a little rectangle. The relish atop (at least I think that is what it must have been) had the texture of ground bacon bits and gristle. I thank my stars it had no flavor if that is what it was. If you decide to go, check you dental insurance. Expect the little bread sticks to be hard as a rock. The staff was totally incompetent. We waited and waited in an almost empty restaurant for a very long for everything. When the waiter came to take our order he had to write it down on a note pad. There were two of us and we ordered two courses each. The girl at IHOP can do more than that. The courses were tiny; not small or just not enough, Tiny. The decor of this restaurant was one word Nauseating (no not appetizing). We spent $92.00 for the two of us for lunch. This was only this little because we decided to cut our losses. When I think back at the experience that my cousin and I had a Gordon Ramsey’s Restaurant at The London in Los Angeles, I think maybe I should have spat my lunch out in the bin like Gordon would have. It is time Gordon; Practice what you preach. The answer to your question is “NO!” I will not be back. My last bit of advice to anyone considering going there…Watch out for the $12.00 bottles of water.
Bruce

Comment on Crudo Bar and Restorante in Weho. We ordered one scoop of pistachio, and one coconut. We were told that the gelato was made fresh at the restaurant. Both flavors had a consistency of ice cream that was defrosted and refrozen again. The coconut had huge chuncks of chocolate throughout. As Andrea and anyone else who knows me, I love chocolate. However, we were never told that there was chocolate in it. I have never had coconut gelato or ice cream with chocolate chunks. We could barely taste the coconut. The chocolate was so overpowering that it was as if they were trying to hide the coconut.

As far as price, very little bang for the buck!

</rdf:RDF>
